Seriously, the weather in New York City has been on another level. I truly cannot remember the last time it was this cold and snowy here. This has been the coldest winter I’ve experienced in a long time. Which is why on Tuesday when the snow started at like 1pm and did not stop I thought about throwing in the towel and heading straight home after my 9-5 aka my marketing duties were complete. However, we all know the grind is real and I had work to do for a client, as well as, an event to attend. Needless to say I bundled up and headed into the storm to finish off my busy day. After completing some personal shopping requests for a client I headed to a panel celebrating women’s history month hosted by The FAB Network.

I have a soft place in my heart for The Fab Network. Not only have I been a member for a few years now, but the CEO Jessica Styles was the first career coach I ever consulted with and has been a good resource and mentor throughout my career. I really could go into this long soliloquy about my first meeting with her and how she changed my perspective on coaches whether it be a career or life coach, but that’s a reflection post for another time. The point is, due to my respect for the founder and organization I try to support whenever I can.

So despite my mood I attended the event with my fellow blogger boo/PR guru Delaila Catalino (founder of M3 Glam) and I am happy that I did. The five panelists Carol Perry, Shantelle Guyton, Stephanie Skorka, Lauren Gabriel and Keir Harris were engaging, extremely honest and witty. In their own way they helped to confirm some things about my career path that I already knew and do, but they also gave me a bit of comfort and inspiration. I love attending panels because I usually leave with some sense of enlightenment.

I think the biggest take away from the discussion was to NEVER SETTLE.

– Regardless of what field you are in, regardless of what your passion is, regardless if you have a family or not never settle for less than what you want and deserve.

– Work hard, prioritize and make EVERY and ANYTHING you want happen.

– Basically, grind to the max, network your ass off and perfect whatever your passion is.

– Want the best, be the best and ALWAYS strive for the best.

Just a little food for thought for everyone of my readers wanting just that.
