The natural hair community has grown tremendously in the past few years and I recently became a part of that growth. I have been on my own natural hair journey for a little while now, but I am still working up the gusto to wear my hair natural all the time. In the meantime, I opt for protective hairstyles such as weaves, braids, etc. This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending Koils by Nature Takes NYC. The event featured Pamela Jenkins creator of Koils by Nature and was hosted by Natural Partners in Crime. It was truly refreshing to attend an event with beautiful people embracing their natural hair.
I attended the event with my fabulous hair stylist @monibdstylist who specializes in natural hair. We enjoyed a few hours of insight into Pamela Jenkins journey to becoming an entrepreneur and learned more information about Koils by Nature products. Then we watched styling demos on natural hair by natural hair stylist Jennifer Lord of Natural Hollywood, indulged in a little shopping from amazing vendors and participated in raffles (I actually won a prize).
Although it was a snowy day in New York City, I really enjoyed meeting some amazing people. I felt inspired and even more excited to continue my natural hair journey to eventually get to where I want to go with it.
